After over three decades at the helm, Varsity Baseball Coach Dave DeBeau has announced his retirement. A proud Merrill graduate, Coach DeBeau has led the Merrill Community Schools baseball program since 1989, establishing a tradition of excellence, mentorship, and community pride that spans generations.

Coach DeBeau’s impact on Merrill athletics is permanently etched into its history. In 2021, the community honored his coaching by dedicating the David J. DeBeau Baseball Complex in his name. His commitment to the sport reached another milestone in 2023 when he coached his 1,000th career high school game. In June 2024, Coach DeBeau received one of the highest honors in Michigan high school sports with his induction into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

While his accomplishments on the field are extraordinary, Coach DeBeau’s true legacy lies in the countless student-athletes he mentored and inspired throughout his 35+ years of leadership.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Coach Dave DeBeau for his decades of devotion to Merrill Community Schools and wish him the very best in a well-deserved retirement.
